* Hockey is taking over my life... uhm.

* I think I might be on the way to developing a cold.

* 4 days off and I will use them to spring clean and to work on Big Bang. Will see how much I'll actually get done.

* No news on the job front. Blah.

* Finally catching up with all my shows.

* Getting ready for the party later and I just realized that this past year bears a distinct lack of LJ entries on my side... oops.

* No review entry from me this year as there isn't really much to review. This year has been weird, with the jobs and healthwise (me and family). So hopefully 2013 will be better when it comes to that.

Anyway, have a safe evening everyone.

Happy New Year

* VACATION!! I'm going to the sea and won't have access to internet (only on my phone and that connection is wonky there). But I'm so looking forward to this one week of off-time. More so now that I know my Christmas working schedule (have to work until 11pm on the 24th (so no family dinner or presents for me that day) and from 9am on the 1st. And I have no idea why we have to cover the whole day during Christmas, it's not like we'll have much to do as editors).

* So yeah, I won't be around much the next few days and I'm even looking forward to the train ride because I actually relented and bought the Kindle Fire. Now I'm buying books like mad and download fic as well. It'll be 2 1/2 hours on the train and I have so much to read.

* I posted my [livejournal.com profile] spn_reversebang Fic on Wednesday.
It's a J2 Highschool AU, which I haven't written in ages. It was fun and I actually like that piece.

If anyone's interested: How to do teenage drama the right way and still come out on top, J2, ~8k, PG-13

* Still weird to be all alone at home. I miss Kitty. It's been a week now and I still think she's around.

* Thank God, I'm on vacation right now. I so need this time away from everything. Off to Dublin tomorrow.

* Olympics: I haven't seen much but swimming is on the schedule every day. I'm kinda sad I'll miss Tony's race but the rest has been fun too watch, surprises included. It's nice to watch it all without the heart stopping excitement and not being able to watch races. It's relaxing to have it on in the background and watch the races I like.

* There isn't anything else to tell... well one of my friends from Ireland tells me to found my own business... easier said then done, especially if you have no idea what to do and don't really have any special talents that would make it worthwhile to go through all the trouble.

* Off to clean the place and finish packing. It's just four days but I feel like I'm moving. I seriously need to downsize and just take the really necessary things.

* I haven't forgotten about the prompts... *hides* I just didn't have time yet. Speaking of prompts, I must not forget to load more BB fics onto my ereader. Maybe this way I'll finally manage to read more then five.

* Oh Whitney... Another great one gone.

* Joined some thousand others yesterday protesting against ACTA. [livejournal.com profile] slippery_fish and me met up to join a protest march. The weather was actually nice enough. The sun came out and the temperatures were bearable. Afterwards we went to a Mexican restaurant and had good food. After that kind of busy day I was so very lazy today. I wanted to clean my place but in the end just watched movies and listened to podfic.

* And I wrote fic. Not a long piece, just a little prompt I promised someone. It's not finished but there's only the ending missing. So I'll need a beta reader soon. Anyone want to read through a schmoppy little, non-AU J2 thingy for me?
It felt so good to write again. So good. Now I just have to save this feeling, this drive over to my Big Bang idea (and the last part of my AU).

* Two weeks until vacation. Plans are not final yet but if it works out it will be very cool.
the_milky_way: (Default)
* First week at work over. It's okay, interesting even but I still don't really know if it's for me. I have phases where I think I'm so the wrong person for this but then things are kind of okay. It's a job for now and I'll do it, since I don't seem to be able to get another one. But I'll send out applications anyway. It's not bad, I'm just not sure I'll be any good at it. Nice people on my team, I get along with most of them. There are some that are a little loud, but it's not too annoying. Also, I see the most interesting things on the way to and from work, this morning it was a bunny in the rose bushes in the the city center. Cute thing.

* Nano seems to go well. I'm not behind and I'll be able to post on weekends. Breaks at work are short but at least I can get ideas out and on paper (will have a lot of typing up to do this weekend). My ReverseBB draft has been accepted and I actually know how to finish it and flesh it out. So at least that one will be done on time as well. I'm just way behind with reading and catching up on fandom... I do read my flist but I barely know where my head is or where I am on the flist..

* Still a little sick, cough and all that but I'm okay. I'm even okay with getting up early and going to bed relatively early. I miss having time during the day to be social, but that's what working life does. Only thing is
that lunch break is so short, you can barely do anything or really go anywhere to get food. So I'll start to cook at home and bring stuff.

* I might not be able to buy/renew my icon package when it runs out at the end of the month since I won't get money at then but only 14 days later... so I need to pay rent and stuff from my savings. Meh... :/

* Not much else to tell... migraines are back but I can't get sick and stay home now. Wouldn't be cool. But I seriously need to find a way to get AnadinExtra (it's not good for my liver but helps so very well with migraines)... Helped so much in Ireland but I can't get it here. At least I have my loved Nurofen.

* I'm also behind with shows, mainly with Secret Circle (4 eps) and Homeland (2 eps and I love this show I just don't have time). No idea when I'll be able to catch up. SPN is still my priority when it comes to watching shows and catching up.

♥ So right now this year has started better than the last one. I looked at a potential apartment today. Our landlord came by and my mum asked him if he new any available apartments. Turns out that a women in the neighboring building is moving out and I could have the apartment. It looks gorgeous, two rooms, fully equipped kitchen, under the roof with a little terrace and the only apartment on that floor. It sounds all very good and affordable and I really hope that the people at the jobcenter will approve. I could be able to move in March and I could stay in my fav part of the city. Wish me luck guys.

♥ Sent of applications this week and one of those is a job I really want to have. A job and an apartment would be so great. Would even exceed my goal of having it all by summer.

♥ Of the boots and coat I mentioned in one of the last entries I'll be keeping just the boots. They are great, fit very well and are warm. Okay, the heel is about 8cm but that's okay so far. I already love them.

♥ Had so many things to do the last few days that I didn't write a single word.

♥ So a really, really awesome person added my name to the love meme and other awesome people commented on it. Thank you sooooo much! This made me smile.
I feel so bad for not going through the meme right now and leaving comments left and right, because you all deserve them. I hope you know how much I appreciate the comments and I really want to give them back. But seeing as there are 21 pages and my head as wells as my back are killing me I'll bow out in shame and just keep on telling you guys how cool you are in your LJs... uhm sorry.

♥ I'll go to bed soon, might be back for SPN but I don't know.

♥ One last thing. Have another snippet from the J2 / Fast and Furious crossover ) and tell me how that reads please.. Because I keep on writing and I have no idea if that actually sounds alright or not. It's like word vomit on the screen and I like most of it, but can't tell if it reads good or not. So please.. help

♥ Haven't finished writing anything in days. I hope to get some things done this weekend. *headdesk*

I'm home!!! After a three hour trip through the city of Dublin, through the snow and in the cold. I left work almost 45 minutes early. Why? Because there are no buses going out to where I live. Only some in the city and none at all to Lucan. So met up with my roommate and a friend in the city, walked to the train station, managed to get on the train to the station closest to Lucan and got there. The we walked 1 1/2 hours through the cold and the snow, and it was (still is) coming down hard.
I don't see myself going to work tomorrow.
No buses!!!
How can you operate buses on summer tires when it is winter? How?

God, I'm so cold. I need a shower or a hot bath and tea, lots of tea.

♥ I think I might be slightly tipsy because of the whiskey but then I think I'm just really tired.

♥ Can't believe how happy I am over a stupid Panda hat. My fashions sense these days either sucks or is adapting to the local customs. I don't know which is worse. But the hat is totally cute.

♥ I feel really random right now. I probably should go to bed and stop drinking tea at 11pm. *headdesk* I don't want to go to work tomorrow. I'd rather hang out with [livejournal.com profile] slippery_fish and discover as of yet unknown to me parts of the city. Meh...

♥ I saw this around and thought it was a good idea... proof me wrong if you want.

So since I probably won't be able to send any Christmas cards this year (safe for the special snowflakes that always get one and to who I own packages anyway. :)) I thought I'd offer something else for the holidays.

Leave me prompts for drabbles. Can be Christmas-themed or not I don't care (and I only promise drabbles because I still have so many things to write). Yoiu know my fandoms but you can try and convince me to write something else. I just have to know about it (no promises though, leave an Plan-B prompt, too).

So yes, leave me prompts!!! Or you know, I might even try to draw or make icons. Torture me.

Considering how 'many' of you participated last time I think I won't have much to do... so I'm willing to submit to the torture... ;=)

Also this is purely for procrastination purposes and to distract myself from real life.

I have been working on the outline for the SPN RPS AU crossover fic I was somehow tricked into writing. I have some scenes done already and I don't know if I like the tone of the story so far. I like the plot, I like the idea, I like it all in all but I'm not sure about the voice.

The thing is I have this scene where I keep things vague so not to spoil the surprise but I'm not sure if it's working.

So there goes your mission (if you should accept it), tell me if it's working and if not what I should change. Should I use names right from the beginning or not?

This is the first scene after the Prologue, so everything is still new.

Warning to [livejournal.com profile] chani_atreides and [livejournal.com profile] morgentau, contains spoiler for fic, but go ahead and yell at me for fucking it all up.. LOL

♥ Lot's of things to tell. Took a sick day Wednesday and it helped. I still have a cough but it's getting better. I needed a day to sleep it all off. Thank God it was okay with my boss. The day after was kind of chaotic. Mostly thanks to "Arthur's Day", which was only celebrated for the second time now. They are trying to build a tradition because it was so successful last year. This is the day they celebrate Arthur Guinness, which means a lot of free Guinness, VIP parties all over the Temple Bar District and live concerts. The thing about the live concerts though was that they were secret. You either had to have connections or luck (Snow Patrol, Manic Street Preachers, Kelis etc). There was a huge part at the Guinness Brewery as well, which meant that I had to take a detour to get into work because the streets were close for preparations.

♥ I've never seen a city this crowded, drunk and loud. Really. We were right in the middle of it because we had to get some grocery shopping done and then the buses were stuck in traffic and in the crowds and it took us way too long to get home. Took the right bus which was going into the wrong direction, which meant walking home in the rain and being told the wrong way by an old lady (Thank God I knew the right direction). Also, I'll never complain about the prices for cosmetics in Germany ever again. Holy hell is this expensive here.

♥ Yesterday then it was "Culture Night", which meant a lot of sights, churches and museums were for free and offered special shows and exhibitions. We went after work and took a look at St. Patrick's Cathedral and it's choir. Very interesting. Pictures... some blury though because I only had my cell phone with me )

♥ Today is an off day. Which I really need. Catch up on sleep, on e-mails, watch the F1 qualifying on BBC and then finally get the next part of my Camp!verse done. Anybody willing to beta for me? It's a J2 story, not long and should be done by tomorrow. Please???

♥ Tomorrow's plans look good. The weather is nice and is supposed to stay this way, so we decided to take the Dart train along the coast and take a look at the beaches, mountains and habors. There will so be pictures taken and postcard send.

♥ Also, won't read anymore reviews than I've already done. Don't wanna spoil my own view and I think I'm quite content with it right now. Sorry that I'm not commenting on any more. Have to rewatch 6.01 anyway again, I have the feeling that I might have missed some things.

I just decide to clean out my inbox and delete all the old and unnecessary emails in there.
The thing is I deleted all the comments I am wanted to answer to still as well.
Bah...

So I know I owe some comments and I remember that someone asked me for my thesis topic. I just can't remember who it was or when it was or if I have answered that question.
Ooops. Sorry.
But feel free to ask, slap or your know mock me here if you want to.

I also kind of suck at organising my day. Where the hell have my two off days gone? I wanted to do so much.

Still need Sam/Den recs.. Anybody?

Edit: It is really interesting to get press releases and media stuff from NBC again. And ti's just a Grand Prix meet. I never thought I'd see they day they are pushing swimming outside the Olympic hype.
Oh and apparently the Japanese swimmer who broke Ryan's WR two days ago did so in a new suite not approve by FINA yet. Wonder what they will do now. But the thing I found interesting is that it was an Arena suit, and Aaron is with Arena now. :)

barely though. This is exhausting.

Spent the day at the library getting the last things our of the books about Oscar Wilde. But the two books I could have really used weren't there and hadn't been there for the last times I was there.
*pouts*

Had some strange but kinda cool encounter in the train the is morning. Trains was late, train was full and people had to pile (kind of).
So there was this group of American exchange students and we were standing really close together.
I use to think that my mp3 player isn't that loud since I perfectly understand people speaking with normal volume and I can perfectly hear the announcement sof the stations.
So this one guy of the Americans (I don't know how old they were maybe 15 or 16 but not much older) was looking at me for a while. Not creepy or so.. just sort of smiling. Until I just wanted to know what was up and asked"What?"
He just smiled a little more and said "That's Kane playing right?". His friends kind of started laughing, along the lines of 'nice pick-up line, dude'.. Me, though.. I was just kind of speechless and said 'yeah' and smiled back.
I have absolutely no idea how he could have heard that. Okay we were standing close but.. I don't know.

Apropos trains, they have had bilingual announcements on the city trains for about two years now (at least the main lines going to the main attractions). The one on my line is about where to change trains to get to airport and where to change trains to get Central Station and to the Olympic Stadium. This week though they added a new announcement and the cool or strange thing is that the voice they used is really British and it's the same they use on some of the National Express trains and somtimes on the Stansted trains. It's weird because it's so polite and so British. Every time I hear it I want to go back to London.

My interesting stories today revolve around the train as it seems.
On the way home a really cute girl was sitting across from me and we kind of kept looking at each other and smiling... and I don't know.
I loved her hair cut. Really.
So what did I do when I got home? Right, I cut my hair because I thought it would look a little better... I am surprised that it worked out the way I wanted it..

Important thing away from the train, bought shoes today. On the way home but between trains.
I didn't even want to go into C&A but they had this huge SALE in the windows and I thought I could go and look for some shirts.
Bought shoes. Summer shoes. Yay.

This is so random and I didn't even want to write a huge entry.

Just my back is bothering me more and more these days. I can't walk properly and without pain. It's just really hurts to sit and be all hunched over books.
Ouch.

Dear next-door neighbours,

no it is not cool to suddenly blast music so loud that the next block even can hear every word of the lyrics at 4.00am in the morning.
And furthermore it is not okay to then go ahead and argue with your girlfriend, or whoever that squeaky voice was, about the volume of the music.
There are other people living around, even if it doesn't seem like if because the place is so bloody QUIET all the time.

No love
me

I went to bed early yesterday (which btw is one of the reasons I am so behind with my flist. Sorry guys) to catch up on the sleep deficit. It was a good plan and I had, for once, no problems falling alseep.
I even had nice dreams until 4.00am and until so idiotic drunkensomething decided to play hardcore rock and wake uop every single person around. I mean I appreciate that someone tried to do somehting but the constant jumps between loud and slightly less less and no music at all for almost an hour was not really helping matters. Police was around at one time, so I guess someone called them. I would have done it if had gone on.

I was feeling okay on the way to talk to my prof, which turned out to be a useless act since she has her office hours tomorrow and not today. I was awake and feeling okay, so I went to get some more things done at the library. Unfortunately it was not the Brain today but the *new* JFK library. New as in newly re-opened after the construction work that was donw to the whole building. The problems is, they are not finished by any means. Not at all. So it was loud and sticky (because this time the AC was not on at all. So I didn't freeze to death but couldn't breath.. yay?). And they had a huge water leak in all of the bathrooms, like water not only leaking but running down the walls and stairs in some kind of little waterfalls. Joy. Oh and the security guy was working on the door, freaking alarm sounded every few minutes.

I don't really know what happened but it kind of it me. I was about to fall alseep there. My head was *this* close to hitting the desk and it was about to explode at the same time. I mean I actually managed to get some things done and I really hope they'll be enough for the exam on Monday but still it wasn't such a productive day. Not as much as I wished it would be.
Slept for two hours when I got home and now I am trying to catch up with LJ, emails (for those who are interested, no answer from NBC yet.) and get more exams stuff done. But really, I am drained.

Yesterday was better. I did get more stuff done and I managed to go and watch "Hancock". I liked it. It was good for that kind of action movie.

Photo meme thingy, you can still ask me to take pictures of things.

Someone asked for a picture of my favourite place in town. I never thought this would be such a hard task, because there are a lot of places I liked to be at or in but I couldn't really say which one of them is my favourite. I could tell you my fav places in London or Barcelona or even in California but here... it's hard to decide.

Dear Eurosport
I wanted to see Swimming and not Tennis! Couldn't you have at least changed your online TV schedule accordingly?
And it would be nice to actually show Livestreaming if you are offering it. I can't really see anything on a black screen.
How am I supposed to tape stuff if you are not showing it?

I hope you won't do that to me when Larsen swims on Sunday.
