They are all so suspicious of each other and it's not only due to the worm thing. I think it's more because of Samuel.

It creates a special kind of tension.

Sam and Dean just have to look at each other, no words, and know what the other one thinks.
Teaming up, something they haven't done in a while. Nice to see.

I know what Samuel is doing, he is trying to get under Sam's skin to get out of there. He is trying to play each other and it's not working.
Of course, dean doesn't want Samuel to tell Sam.. no scratching the Great Wall of Sam.

Clean slade for Sammy when if comes to Dean. Interesting. But then it's Sam for Dean and he'll never be objective there. Because he didn't give the same chance to Samuel. This is interesting to see, but then that's Dean's definition of family and he's very selective when it comes to that. But then Sammy will always be his focus anyway.

That said, I have to admit that I really liked this episode. I like the suspension, the tension, the timing and the way it was filmed. I like the story, the plot and the way it was execute. All for four of them were great as teams and the way they worked together. It became so obvious that Samuel didn't belong and that he was the outcast without his 'own' family around anymore. But then Samuel didn't seem to care much about his family anyway.. lying to them, leaving them to be killed. Yeah... Family never means the same thing to different people.

I loved to see Sam and Dean working so effortlessly together again. Silent communication, just looks and then some banter.

And yes, I know there has been outrage already. I can get behind it when it's about a favorite character being killed off. Because I love Rufus and I hate to see him gone. Rufus was awesome and he fit so very well. And it's even more of a shame that it had to have been Bobby (or Bobby's body) doing it. If it had been a character I didn't like, I wouldn't care so much (like I don't care at all about Samuel).
Man, I'll miss Rufus.

HIATUS!!! URGH... why so long (but then it's good because I might have my internet by then... hopefully).

THIS. It's the reason why I've really, really enjoyed the last few episodes SO MUCH. It feels like they're finally back on track and brothers again :D
