A coach not willing to learn the basics of diabetes is a hypocrite. How can they expect your son or daughter to listen and learn to what they have to say and be closed to learning a little about diabetes. If you can find a new coach. It really doesn't take much, My coach knows hardly anything about diabetes, but he does know what to be on the lookout for, and will ask occasionally, do you need anything? Some juice or anything?

I am in the process of producing a video to give out to CDE's to forward on to newly diagnosed patients in the down and out phase of diagnosis. The message needs to be positive and I am just now meeting with producers for the video. The book with be out later. It takes me a while to write... you might have noticed.

You know, I take issue with the comment that the best plumber in the world make more money than the best swimmer in the world. Personally, I think it's an ignorant and spoiled comment to make. It is indicative of a sense of an overinflated sense of self-importance. What practical purpose does a swimmer serve? None. I'm not saying that being the world's fastest swimmer is not a worthy and honourable goal, but it's certainly no more worthy than being a plumber. It really isn't. It just pisses me off when athletes spout off crap like that, as though they are somehow more important and other productive members of society, when _REALLY_ they're not. If my plumbing was screwed up, I'd rather have a plumber around than Gary Hall.

On that point I definitely agree with you.
Not because I don't like Gary, but because he really isn't a good at plumbing at all.

I really do understand why that pisses you off. He has no right to talk like that.
And don't get me wrong when I defend him a bit it was poor.
He wrote that in a chat with a lot of teenagers asking stupid questions about his live style and what he is doing with all his millions of dollars and stuff.
I guess he just wanted to say that he doesn't earn that much money.
He could have done it in another way.
So yeah, it wasn#t that intelligent.

i am a swimmer.
and i know what kind of work goes into swimming... and while i'll never know the kind of work that goes into being the best swimmer in the world, i DO KNOW that it is hard work.
gary hall jr. is known to be one of the cockiest swimmers there is.
i agree with what he says because when he said it, i dont think he was trying to place himself into society...he was trying to compare his workload/work ethic with that of a plumbers'.
and while a plumber works hard, i do not think that the worlds best plumber works as hard as the worlds best swimmer.

He wasn’t trying to do that. He just wanted to explain that he doesn’t earn as much money as the people suspect him to and took a plumber as example.
Guess it is easy to misunderstood him. And well, this comment was abit out of context.
But still I think he could have explained it in another way.
He was talking about the support for swimmers and what they get for it.
I do like him a lot and respect his work.
He just says things like that and people get offended. He is like that.
And I still think he inhabits a great sense of self-importance.
