So I actually was looking forward to the US Open. And what happens? Aaron withdraws from the meet completely, Klete drops like a stone (Come one Klete, you don't need to drop like that, it is called a "start" after all.) and gets 10th in the 400m free prelims (Go Peter, you are are in the A-Final. At least one of the wolves. Yay for Vanderkaays.) and Erik gets DQed.
What they hell did Bob do to the boys? Well okay, that Mike wins the 200m back prelims was expected but Ryan not making the final? Well at leats he made it in the IMs.. oh and BJ is back? Hehe.
I guess the season is over for some of the guys.

what are they using as time trials so as you can gain selection on to the world team for world champs in march?

They used the Summer Nationals in July/August and times from the Pan Pacs for team selection. So the US Worlds Team has already been selected.

How do you do it? Do you have to get certain times to qualify?
(German swimming has that, if you are under the standard time you'll likely get a spot on the team, so it happens that even the first two don't get a spot because the times were too slow.)

USA Swimming has the 1 - 2 rule. The first two get spots on the team. For the Worlds though they changed it a bit. They took the Nationals results and looked at the Pan Pacs times as well. If someone was faster at Pan Pacs than someone at Nationals, the Pan Pacs times got the spot on the Team.

Yeah, we have to qualify for Opens first which is really hard in its self. Then, to gain selection we have to get into the finals at trials and place 1st or 2nd in finals.

That sounds tough, with qulaifying for the Open first.
