I wasn't expecting this either and I don't know but for a season finale it was kind of predictable in some ways. But that doesn't mean I didn't like it.

I like that they brought the blood addiction into to it only to have Sam realize it was him all the time. Poor Sammy. Addicted without reason. And yes I think you are right about the problems still being there... Nothing is solved.. not really.
